University Students Protest in Sri Lanka

Despite the bad weather,A huge protest march Organized by University Students of Sri Lanka is marching towards President House, Colombo. At the moment Police is trying to resist it.Meanwhile Police Used Tear Gas and Water cannons to disperse the students.

A protest was held by hundreds of Sri Lankan university students against current university crisis and against the government decision to shut down the universities.
Sri Lanka Higher Education Ministry last week decided to close the state Universities and campuses in Sri Lanka temporarily due to ongoing University Teachers Strike.

Sri Lanka Major university student union, The Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF) is organized the protest and urged government to solve the issue of university lecturers and solve the Z score crisis.
Due to this protest march several major roads has been closed.

The strike launched by the Federation of University Teachers' Associations (FUTA) on July 04, entered the eight week without a solution in sight. Due to this long strike academic activities are paralyzed and government decided to shut down all universities. University lecturers in Sri Lanka who are currently engaged in a strike to win their demands including a salary increase are continuing with the trade union action
