The President of
the main student’s union in the Peradeniya University had been abducted by some
unknown persons on the 14th .It is learnt that he had been
taken to a upper floor of a super market building and had been questioned for 1
½ hours and released after making death threats.The incident was reported by
him in this manner.
“: On the 14th I
went to the Kandy city to meet my father. When I was walking ahead six persons
came and cordoned me. One held by my hand. I told them not hold my hands. Then
I met my father. They followed me and took me to an upper flow of a super
market. They questioned me for about 1 ½ hours. They wanted me to get all
conflicts inside the university to be stopped. That is what I felt.
They told me not to
be active. You will know what your fate would be and released me. Whatever
threats come we are not going to stop the free education system. The
authorities have brought in various proposals to stop all these. The government
is taking steps like this to stop our activities by methods like abducting
etc.”
පේරාදෙණිය විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ මහා ශිෂ්‍ය සංගමයේ සභාපතිවරයා පසුගිය 14 වැනි දා නාඳුනන පිරිසක් විසින් පැහැරගෙන ගොස් තිබේ. පැහැරගෙන යාමෙන් පසු එම ශිෂ්‍යයා මහනුවර නගරයේ වෙළෙඳසලක උඩුමහලට ගෙන ගොස් පැය 1 1/2ක පමණ කාලයක් ප‍්‍රශ්න කර මර ර්‍ණය තර්ජනය කිරීමෙන් පසු මුදාහැර ඇත.
තමාව පැහැරගෙන යාම පිළිබඳ පේරදෙණිය විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ මහා ශිෂ්‍ය සංගමයේ සභාපති මෙලෙස අදහස් දැක්වීය.
‘පසුගිය 14 වැනි දා මම මගේ පියා මුණගැසෙන්න මහනුවර නගරයට ගියා. මහනුවර බස් නැවතුම්පොළේ ඉඳලා ටික දුරක් යනකොට හයදෙනෙක් ඇවිත් මාව වටකරගත්තා. ඒ වෙලාවේ ඔවුන් මගේ අතින් අල්ලාගත්තා. මම මගේ අත්වලින් අල්ලන්න එපා කියලා ඔවුන්ට කිව්වා. පසුව ඔවුන් මා මුදා ඊට පස්සේ මම මගේ පියා හමුවෙලා එද්දී ඔවුන් නැවත මා පසුපස ඇවිත් මහනුවර නගරයේ වෙළෙඳසලක උඩුමහලට අරගෙන ගියා. ඔවුන් මාව පැහැරගෙන ගියායින් පසු පැය 1 1/2ක් පමණ වේලාවක් ප‍්‍රශ්න කළා. විශේෂයෙන්ම මේ දවස්වල පේරාදෙණිය විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ සියලූ පීඨ එකතුවෙලා අධ්‍යාපන අයිතිය වෙනුවෙන් කරන සටන් න්වත්වන්න ඔවුන්ට අවශ්‍ය වී ඇතැයි මට තේරුම් ගියා.
වැඩිය දඟලන්න එපා. දැඟලූවොත් වෙන දේ දන්නවා නේද කියලා මර ර්‍ණය තර්ජනය කර මා මුදාහැරියා. එහෙත් මොන තර්ජන ගර්ජන නෙමේ මර්දනය ආවත් අපි නිදහස් අධ්‍යාපනය වෙනුවෙන් කරන සටන නවත්වන්න සූදානමක් නෑ. අද වන විට අධ්‍යාපනය විනාශ කරන ප‍්‍රතිසංස්කරණ ගෙනැල්ලා ඒවා පරාජය වෙනකොට ඒවාට නායකත්වය දෙන ශිෂ්‍ය ක‍්‍රියාකාරිකයින් මර්දනය කරන්න පැහැරගෙන යන්න අත් අඩංගුවට ගන්න ආණ්ඩුව කටයුතු කරනවා’

In Kandy town at what time of the day did this happen? If there were death threats why didn't he complained to the police if he is innocent? Lots of questions come to our minds? What happened to the freshers (girls) he ragged mercilessly by forcing them to eat stale food so that they had to be hospitalised to cure? What happened to the freshers who got pneumonia after staying bear bodied in a cool water pool?
