The student S J Nisansala Priyanthi Samarasinghe was admitted to hospital
last Thursday (May 30).
The University administration Tuesday decided to
temporarily close three faculties and suspend the educational activities of
Law, Art and Management faculties until Monday.
Health Authorities of the Colombo Municipal Council has
found dengue larvae in the water samples collected from the Law Faculty
building and alerted the University to close the premises. The University
administration has decided to close the other two faculties situated adjacent
to the Law faculty.
Health authorities have also closed 12 government schools
due to dengue threat and clean-up programs are in progress in those schools.
The Health Ministry has urged the school authorities to
keep the school premises free of dengue mosquito breeding sites and warned to
take legal action against school authorities who fail to follow to take
measures.

නිසංසලා ශිෂ්‍යාව හදිසියේ ඇද වැටීමකට ලක්ව පසුගිය 30 වැනිදා ජාතික රෝහලට ඇතුළත් කරන විට උණ රෝගයට ද ගොදුරුව සිටියාය. ඇද වැටීම හේතුවෙන් ඇගේ ඔළුවට සිදු වූ හානියට ප්‍රතිකාර ලබාදීම සඳහා ස්නායු ක්ෂති ඒකකයේ හදිසි ප්‍රතිකාර අංශයට ඇතුළත් කළ බව ඒ මහතා කීය.
සී.ටී. ස්කෑන් පරීක්ෂණයකට ලක් කිරීමෙන් පසුව ඇගේ මොළය අභ්‍යන්තරයේ ලේ ගැලීමක් සිදුව ඇති බවත් ඒ සඳහා ප්‍රතිකාර ලබාදෙමින් සිටියදී ඇයට ඩෙංගු උණ රෝගය වැළඳී ඇති බවත් අනාවරණය වී ඇත.
කෑගල්ල ප්‍රදේශයේ පදිංචි නිසංසලා නීති ශිෂ්‍යාව මරණයට පත් වන විට විසි එක් වැනි වියෙහි පසු වූවාය. ඇද වැටීම නිසා මොළයේ අභ්‍යන්තරයේ සිදු වූ රුධිර වහනය නිසා ඇය මරණයට පත් වූයේ ද, ඩෙංගු උණ රෝගය හේතුවෙන් මරණයට පත්වූයේ ද යන්න තහවුරු කර ගැනීම සඳහා මරණ පරීක්ෂණයක් ඉල්ලා තිබෙන බව ද වෛද්‍ය සිල්වා මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය
Our heartfelt condolences to her family. There are dengue mosquito breeding places in the Colombo Medical Faculty and some medical students are hospitalised at the National Hospital. The Medical Faculty and the National Hospital premises and compound also should undergo a severe cleaning operation.
