Sri Lanka to Regulate International schools and private schools

The Sri Lankan government plans to bring in legislation to regulate International schools and private schools to follow national educational policies and conform to national standards.
According to the government a number of these schools function as companies and registered as business ventures under the Board of Investment or Companies Act.
The government says therefore, it is necessary to bring in amendments to existing rules and regulations for the effective functioning of the international schools and private schools in keeping with the needs of the country.

Sri Lanka Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardena has made a proposal to the cabinet to proceed with necessary changes in the legislation and the cabinet has approved Minister's proposal.
