Sri Lanka
governemt has decided to offer more opportunities for Maldives students to
continue their higher education in Sri Lankan state universities and private
universities.
Memorandum
of Understanding between the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka
and the Government of the Republic of Maldives on Co-operation in the Field of
Education.
The proposed
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recognizes the importance of Education and
Training in National Development as well as a means to further cultivate ties
between their people. The above proposal made by Hon. S.B. Dissanayake,
Minister of Higher Education, to sign the above MoU, was approved by the
Cabinet.
මෙරට විශ්වවිද්‍යාලවල මාලදිවයිනේ සිසුන්ට ඉගෙනීමට ඇති අවස්ථා වැඩි කිරීම කෙරෙහි රජයේ අවධානය යොමු වී තිබේ.
මේ වෙනුවෙන් ශ්රී ලංකාව හා මාලදිවයින් ජනරජය අතර ගිවිසුමක් අත්සන් කිරීම සදහා කැබිනට් මණ්ඩලයේ අනුමැතිය ලැබී ඇතැයි උසස් අධ්‍යාපන අමාත්‍යංශය සදහන් කළේය.
මාලදිවයින් ජනරජයේ සිසුන් උසස් අධ්‍යාපනය සදහා බොහෝ සෙයින් මැලේසියාවට ඇදී යන අතර එම සිසුන් ශ්රී ලංකාව දෙසට වැඩි වශයෙන් ආකර්ශනය කර ගැනීමට නව ගිවිසුම මගින් හැකි වෙතැයි උසස් අධ්‍යාපන අමාත්‍යංශය පෙන්වා දෙයි.
ඉදිරි දිනකදී අත්සන් තැබෙන නව ගිවිසුමට අනුව මාලදිවයින් ජනරජයේ සිසුන්ට මෙරට රාජ්‍ය හා පෞද්ගලික විශ්වවිද්‍යාල වල අධ්‍යාපනය ලැබීමට අවස්ථාව ලැබේ.
එය ශ්රී ලංකා ආර්ථිකයටද යහපත් ලෙස බලපානු ඇතැයි උසස් අධ්‍යාපන අමාත්‍යංශය වැඩිදුරටත් සදහන් කරයි

Already there is a lack of resources for state university undergraduates. By admitting foreign students to local universities the local students will have to forego their places. It is unfair.
