National Institute of Business Management NSBM University-Convocation

The first convocation of the National Institute of Business Management or the NSBM University, which is regarded as Sri Lanka's first green university conducted today. 
President Mahinda Rajapaksa was the chief guest at the occasion to be held at the BMICH in Colombo this afternoon. Minister Dallas Alahapperuma says this event is the fulfillment of the reality of the Mahinda Chinthanaya to create a modern society centered on knowledge. The Minister further says that the first state university to amalgamate activities with the overseas universities is the NSBM University. Joint courses are to be conducted with the assistance of foreign universities. The Minister participating in a discussion programme with the National Radio this morning also said that a permanent building complex for the university is being constructed in Homagama. Around 30,000 students will be able to follow degree courses at this institute.

Minister S.B. Dissanayake participating in the programme said that more foreign students are now showing an interest to follow courses in local universities. The Green University enables the opportunity to follow higher courses of professional status at a low expenditure.
During the time the President has assumed duties in the post of Presidency, only 9,000 students were being admitted to the universities. the Minister has pointed out that this number has now risen to 27,000.
