University Leadership Training program (Nayakathwa Puhunuwa) 1st Batch selected students Name list will be released to the Official Web Site Monday (25th August) confirmed Higher Education Ministry Secretary Dr. Sunil Jayanthe to Lanka University News. 
Earlier Ministry officials said that name list would be release on 22nd August afternoon. Lanka University News apologize from students for the inconvenience faced by them due to modification of releasing dates by Ministry.

He further said that Relevant letters of 1st batch will be posted to students in due course.

Students can check whether you have selected for First Batch or not by entering your National Identity Card Number (NIC).

If your name doesn't appear on the list, it means that you will be not selected for 1st Batch. Second and Third Batch details will be updated later.

The University leadership training program for Sri Lankan students who have qualified to enter University for the 2013/2014 academic year will commence on September 7th.
The program (Development of Leadership Qualities and Positive Thinking) is scheduled to start at 22 Army Camps islandwide under 3 stages with the participation of 23,300 students.

The 1st Batch is to be started September 7th – September 27th

2nd Batch will start October 4th October 24th

3rd Batch will commence from October 30th November 21

* Mahela Jayewardene & Kumar Sangakkara faced Ice Bucket Challenge today and released the video. Thy challenge Angelo Mathews.
* Hirunika Premachandra has accepted Malsha kumaranatunge's Ice Bucket Challenge and posted a video. She has challenged Harin Fernando, Senel Welgama & Lal Kantha.
Sri Lanka Cricket Legend Mahela Jayawardene has accepted Otara Gunewardene's Challenge.
As promised Otara Gunewardene faced the  Ice Bucket Challenge and released the Video. She has nominated Mahela Jayewardene,Kumara Sangakkara,Sameera Reddy and Malik Fernando.

It is reported that Hirunika Premachandra has accepted Malsha kumaranatunge's Ice Bucket Challenge.She has mentioned this on her Face Book Page. Also Thanuja Jayewardene has accepted the Iraja Weeraratne's Challenge but will do it later as she is suffering from bad headache.

Ice Bucket Challenge is now very popular among Sri Lankans too. First Iraj Weeraratne joined the campaign accepting Big Reeno's challenge. Iraja released a You Tube video and nominated Otara Gunewardene,Malsha Kumaranatunge & Thanuja Jayawardana. Big Harsha also faced to this challenge.Then Malsha Kumaranatunge accepted Iraj’s challenge and faced it. Malsha has nominated President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Hirunika Premachandra and Mervin Silva. It is reported that Hirunika Premachandra has accepted Malsha's challenge. Also Thanuja Jayewardene has accepted the Challenge but will do it with Iraj later as she is suffering from bad headache.

What is Ice Bucket Challenge??

The Ice Bucket Challenge, sometimes called the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, is an activity involving dumping a bucket of ice water on one's head or donating to the ALS Association in the United States. It went viral throughout social media during the Northern Hemisphere summer of 2014.
The challenge dares nominated participants to be filmed having a bucket of ice water poured on their heads. A common stipulation is that nominated people have 24 hours to comply or forfeit by way of a charitable financial donation.

With the challenge going viral around the world, the craze when to its next level when celebrities like Bill Gates, Justin Bieber, Mark Zuckerberg and Christiano Ronaldo joined in to support spreading awareness about ALS, also known as motor neurone disease or Lou Gherig’s disease.

Peradeniya University students to protest over Management Faculty issue

Peradeniya University Management Faculty issue - Protest Today noon
Peradeniya University Students to launch a protest at Galaha Junction today noon demanding the establishment of a Management Faculty in the Peradeniya university and against reduction of students for the course.

Management Department of the university currently functions under the Arts Faculty and students have been urging for a Management Faculty at Peradeniya for several years.
Undergraduates of the Peradeniya University’s Management Department are angered over the University Grants Commission (UGC) reducing the number of students.
Currently, there were nearly 700 students, but the immediate past batch faced several difficulties due to lack of facilities as well as shortage of staff.
University management promised to increase facilities and a new building for the department, but still this has not fulfilled.
Most of faculties in Sri Lankan universities started as departments and they turned into faculties after a long process.

Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology has come to No:1 Private University in Sri Lanka. Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology Sri Lanka APIIT has gained No:4 place.
