33 Pera University Students suspended

33 Uni students of Peradeniya Campus suspended over ragging incident.
Thirty three students of the Peradeniya University had been suspended indefinitely over a ragging incident, the University administration said today.
Disciplinary Officer of the Peradeniya University Dr. Asoka Dangalla said that 33 students from the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences were involved in the ragging incident.
The university’s administration had conducted a disciplinary inquiry regarding the incidents, he said.
He further said 25 students of the second year including eight female students and eight students of the third year were among the suspended students.

  1. It is a very good move because the ragging in Peradeniya university is unbearable even to a very tough individual. When we entered Peradeniya university in 1977 the ragging was imposed on us only by verbal commands but today, it is a broom stick that lands hard on freshers if seniors think freshers are stubborn. My son almost abandoned the precious university course that he earned with a great difficulty because of inhuman & sadistic ragging in university hall(hostel) by the senior students. It is my opinion that all the seniors who do actively participate in ragging must be suspended at least for two years to lose their seniority.
