Much awaited Grade Five Scholarship Examination 2012 Cut Off Marks for Popular & National Schools to be released January 7th 2013, Education Minister Bandula Gunawardene said.

The 2012 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination (Sinhala medium) cut-off marks for the Popular and National Schools are expected to be issued today (07). The cut-off marks for the Tamil medium are expected to be issued later in the week. The 2012 Grade 5 scholarship examination was held on August 26 last year. 
Earlier he has told Cut Off Marks will be released before January 9.

Sri Lanka Education Ministry says that the cut off marks for admission of children to national schools based on the marks of the Grade/Year five scholarship examination, will be released on January 7. Twenty seven thousand children have applied for national schools in the Sinhala medium this year. There have been 6,000 applications for the Tamil medium.

Kelaniya University Students Leader Attacked:Sri Lanka
Suranjith Bandara former Kelaniya University students’ leader has been attacked by unidentified gang. Later he was admitted to the Ragama hospital today (December 30).
According to the Inter University Student Federation (IUSF), the former leader was attacked at about 2 a.m today while returning to the university hostel after holding a protest, followed by a remembrance program for two students, Sisitha Priyankara and Janaka Ekanayake, who had lost their lives.
The convener stated that the attack occurred roughly 2 km away from the Kelaniya University. Sanjeewa Bandara suspects that the two people who had attacked the student are security officials.
