      Dr frnd,,,,Aptitude test is a eccencial qualification for entering some dgree courses. To my mind,although u have other all qualificatins to entering a university,if u'd fail the above test, u cant enter the course.

    No one could imagine that old syllabus minimum Z score for medicine in 2012 is higher than the Z score of new syllabus and also there is a huge reduction in the number of students selected to medicine from old syllabus. This indicates that the admission policy implemented in 2012 is unfair to the old syllabus students. One reason for higher minimum Z score for old syllabus in 2012 is that most of the very good students from old syllabus went to third attempt because the competition for selection to medicine is only among the old syllabus students. This suggests that students sat GCE(A/L) exam in 2012 as third attempt is a completely different set of students (many very good students) than the students who sat GCE(A/L) as third attempt in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. Then, a question arises how the percentage of students entered from third attempt from 2006 to 2010 could be applied as very suitable admission policy. If a little higher percentage applied than the percentage calculated from 2006 to 2010, few more students who are at the borderline to medicine from old syllabus could be selected and then the difference between minimum z score between old syllabus and new syllabus could be justified.

    There is no clear reason given why the students sat in 2011 as third attempt is not considered to calculate the percentage of students entered from the third attempt. To predict or forecast something, data from the very last year is more valuable than other years. So, percentage should have been calculated by considering percentage of students entered from third attempt from 2006 (2007) to 2011. There should be an increasing trend in the percentage of students entered from third attempt. Therefore, a little higher percentage than the calculated one should be applied to be suitable and fair admission policy to old syllabus students in 2012.

    In the history of G.C.E(A/L) examination, except 2012, students were able to predict at some percentage confidence level that whether they may be selected or not. This is why many students who did well in their third attempt in 2012 and disappointed for not selected for the medicine could not sit exam as fourth attempt in 2013. This is one of the reasons for very low GCE(A/L) result in 2013 from old syllabus. Because of this, there is a possibility for a student to be selected for medicine with low result and top rank in the district from old syllabus GCE(A/L) in 2013. It indicates that more students should have been selected from old syllabus in 2012. This seems same for most of the districts. This may be a big error (Type I error) rejecting very good students in 3rd attempt and accepting poor students from 4th attempt to the medicine. This error can be reduced by increasing the intake of medicine from year 2012 old syllabus even if it is late now or by considering application for admission in 2012 from old syllabus as a fresh application for the year 2013 because many very good students from old syllabus could not sit the fourth attempt due to disappointment and depression caused by unfair admission policy in 2012

    im from oluvil my is district i sat for the A/L exam in 2015... arts stream... and i got 312st rank in district island rank 10053 then my z-score is 1.1772 . Subject in Islam B ,Economic C ,political A., .university kku vaipu erkutha sir please reply sir ( I am Muslim )...

    I DID ALEVELS ON 2015 IN TECHNOLOGY STREAM,
    MY DISTRICT RANK IS 20TH FROM COLOMBO AND ISLAND IS 157,Z SCORE 2.0567
    I APPLIED FOR JAPURA UNIVRSITY, BUT THE THING IS ONLY 150 ARE TAKEN, SO I AM 157 FROM THE ISLAND..
    IS THERE ANY CHANCE FOR ME TO ENTER TO THE JAPURA UNIVERSITY OR MAY I GET THE SECOND UNIVERSITY ?
