University Entrance process will be as follows. 

1.     First re-scrutinized A/Level results 2015 should be released. 
2.     Then University Hand Book will be issued. 
3.     After issuing the Hand Book students should be fill it and send to UGC.
4.     Based on students’ desired course students have to apply for Aptitude Tests after publishing on national newspapers. 
5.     After that students have to sit for Aptitude Tests depend on their selected courses. Then aptitude test results will released by relevant universities.
6.     Z score cut off marks will be released with selected degree course.
7.     Finally University Registration!

Higher education Ministry sources says that the students who are qualified for the 2016 University Academic year based on 2015 A/L results will be admitted before the end of 2016.

GCE O/L Exam December 6 Time Table DownloadSri Lanka ,2016 GCE (Ordinary Level -  අ.පො.ස. සාමාන්‍ය පෙළ   විභාගය Samanya Pela) examination O/L Exam to be held from December 6 to 17.

Candidates for GCE O/L exams beginning December 6 requested to be in their halls before 8.30am despite inclement weather, the Exams Commissioner says.

The GCE Ordinary Level Examination will commence December 6 at 5669 examination centers islandwide. The Commissioner General of Examinations says most number of students in history is expected to sit for the exam this time. Nearly 700,000 students are sitting for the exam. This shows a 30,000 increase compared to the previous year.

No Mobile Phones!
Taking a mobile phone into the examination hall is not only prohibited to those students sitting the Ordinary Level Examination this year, but also for invigilators and supervisors, the Examinations Department said.

Other examination malpractices that are punishable include impersonation, possessing relevant material, both printed and electronic devices, misconduct or creating disturbance in and outside the examination centre and obtaining help from invigilators, Examinations Chief said.
No Tipp-Ex
Correction fluid (Tipp-Ex) and calculators are not allowed into the examination hall.

Carrying hand phones into exam halls are banned for candidates and teachers on supervision. Only examiners are allowed to carry hand phones to examination centres. 
The Examinations Department announced that it is compulsory for GCE O/L candidates to have a NIC ID - National Identity Card or a valid Passport to sit for the examination to prove their identity. Only candidates who have not reached 16 years, by October 31 could produce the Postal Identity Card issued by the Postal Department at the examination and the candidate with postal IDs should forward two photocopies of page numbers 1 and 2 of Postal ID to the supervising officer of the Examination Hall.

Meanwhile, the Department of Registration of Persons says it has made necessary arrangements today to provide the national identity cards to the students who have not received so far.
The Department of Examinations says that any amendments to the admission cards issued in respect of the G.C.E Ordinary Level Examinations need to be brought to their notice before November 29.

Commissioner General of Examinations  stated that such amendments should be forwarded to the School Examinations Unit of the Department.

Accordingly, those who wish to make amendments can contact the department on 1911 or 0112784208 or 0112 784537. He further noted that the admission cards have been received by the candidates through post.

The public is advised to report persons violating any rule related to examination to the nearest police station or to the Examinations Department hotline 1911 or 0112 784 208, 0112 784 537, 0113 188 350 , 0112 785 212.

University Students Protest March Kandy to Colombo "Anthare" Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) has launched a Huge Protest march Kandy to Colombo.
IUSF has started their protest march this morning and now reaching to Pilimatalawa town.

Sri Lankan Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) has planned to hold huge five day protest march from Kandy to Colombo for pressurize the government to stop the education privatization including Malabe SAITM.

The five day March parade started Today (23 November) from Peradeniya University Kandy and will reach the Colombo on 27 November.


The March parade will pass Mawanella,Ambepussa,Nittambuwa and Kelaniya towns along the A1 Road. There will be a heavy traffic along the main road.

2012 year IUSF has organized similar march.

The Appropriation Bill outlining allocations to be made for each ministry for year 2017 was tabled in House for its First Reading on 20 October.
The government has estimated an allocation of Rs. 1.82 trillion (US$ 12.4 billion) for expenditure for next year, which is lower than the 2016 allocation of Rs. 1.95 trillion.
Minister Karunanayake said a development oriented budget with long term action plan to fulfill aspirations of all citizens will be presented to parliament. The theme of the budget this time is "Towards rapid development with benefits to all".
According to the Minister the next year's Budget 2017 has focused on strengthening the national economy of the country.
He said that priority has been given to the people's proposals in preparing Budget 2017 and, the needs and views of the people were taken into consideration in order to make them representatives in Budget 2017.
Among the wide range of groups whose views are included in the budget are farmers, fishermen, laborers, small, medium and big time entrepreneurs, self-employees, industrialists, investors, trade union representatives, civil organizations, political parties, professionals, university teachers, professors and religious leaders.
In addition, the Finance Ministry had received nearly 2500 proposals from the ordinary people living in different parts of the island to be considered for Budget 2017.
The Minister further said that close attention has been drawn to the proposals with a view to solve youth unemployment, new plans to reduce cost of living, plans to promote several sectors including investment, education, health and agriculture.
"The budget proposals this time is expected to take tangible initiative to end poverty in the country. It will also be the stepping stone for a Grand National operation to save the future generation from the prevailing colossal debt trap through its long term development agenda," he said.

Sri Lanka Budget 2016 (Budget Speech) will take place today (November 20) 2pm at the Parliament. 

Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake will present the Budget Speech.
