Sri Lanka University students protest

Sri Lankan university students protested over arrest of their union leaders. Thousands students from Japura,Ruhuna & Kelaniya universities participated for these protests in front of universities.

At the moment IUSF Convener & IUBF Convener have remanded.

නිදහස් අධ්‍යාපනයත් අධ්‍යාපනයේ නිදහසත් වෙනුවෙන් හඬ නැගු වරදට සිරගත කර සිටින අන්තර් විශ්වවිද්‍යාල ශිෂ්‍ය බලමණ්ඩලයේ කැදවුම්කරු සංජීව බන්ඩාර සහෝදරයා සහා අන්තර් විශ්වවිද්‍යාල භික්ෂු බලමණ්ඩලයේ කැදවුම් කරු කිඹුල්ලෑවේ චන්දානන්ද හිමියන් නිදහස් කරන ලෙස බල කරමින් රුහුණ විශ්වවිද්‍යාල මහා ශිෂ්‍ය සංගමය මගින් අද දින(2013.07.10)වැල්ලමඩම පරිශ්‍යයේදී විරෝධතාවක් පැවැත් විය.

විශ්වවිද්‍යාල සිසුන් සහභාගි කර ගෙන විරෝධතා පාගමනක් පැවැත්වීමේ 'වරද'ට සංජීව බණ්ඩාර මහතා තවදුරටත් රක්ෂිත බන්ධනාගාර ගත කරන්නැයි මිරිහාන පොලිසිය අද අධිකරණයෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටියේය.

 ඒ, ඔහු අද ගංගොඩවිල මහේස්ත්‍රාත් අධිකරණයට ඉදිරිපත් කළ අවස්ථාවේදීය. ඒ අනුව සංජීව බණ්ඩාර මහතා ලබන 26 වැනිදා දක්වා රක්ෂිත බන්ධනාගාර ගත කරනු ලැබීය.

මේ අවස්ථාවේදී සංජීව බණ්ඩාර මහතා වෙනුවෙන් පෙනී සිටි නීතිඥයින් පැවසුවේ, එම පෙළපාලියේ ඉදිරියෙන්ම හා පසු පසින් ගමන් කළේ පොලිසිය බැවින් රක්ෂිත බන්ධනාගාර ගත කළ යුත්තේ සිසුන් නොව පොලිසිය බවයි. 

IUBF Convener Kimbullewe Chandananda Thera Arrested

Inter University Bhikku Federation Convener Kimbullewe Chandananda Thera was arrested this evening, police said. They said six warrants had been issued against him for not attending courts.
Meanwhile yesterday, Inter University Student’s Federation convener Sanjeeva Bandara also remanded.

Releasing an announcement National Organizer of Socialist Students Union (SSU) Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said that the government’s agenda of destroying free education, which is a property of the masses, should be defeated and all should rally to protect free education states an protesting against remanding of the convener of IUSF Sanjeewa Bandara on false charges.

Sri Lanka University Students Leader Sanjeewa Bandara Remanded

The Convenor of the Sri Lanka’s major university students union “Inter University Student’s Federation” IUSF “Anthare” Sanjeeva Bandara has been remanded till 15 July.

Colombo Fort Chief Magistrate Thilina Gamaga remanded Sanjeeva Bandara for allegedly breaking his Bail conditions. 

Last week he was issued summons and ordered to appear before court on July 8 to inquire into the breaking of his bail conditions.

The Colombo Crimes Division informed the Fort Magistrates Court that Bandara was granted bail on condition that he would not be a member of any unlawful gathering.

The CCD said that his participation in the recent protest march to Nugegoda was a violation of this condition.
