The Master of Business Administration also called MBA or M.B.A. is a master's degree in business administration, which attracts people from a wide range of academic disciplines. An MBA is an internationally recognized qualification. This program combines rigorous academic disciplines with management skills to give participants the confidence to thrive in their careers long into the future. It gives students an understanding of all aspects of business.

The core courses in the MBA program are designed to introduce students to the various areas of business such as accounting, finance, marketing, human resources, operations management, etc. Students in MBA programs have the option of taking general business courses throughout the program or can select an area of concentration.
Currently there are few government and private universities conducting MBA programs in Sri Lanka as well. The leading MBA programs are conducted by the University of Colombo and the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM).
An executive MBA, or EMBA, is a post graduate level business degree. An executive MBA program is designed to educate working executives such as directors, managers, entrepreneurs, and other business leaders.

    1. Dear All, Executive MBA is targeted towards the corporates and MBA is more towards academics. Generally EMBA/EMSC s are not CREDIT transferable programs towards further studies. Ex. DBA/Phd. Simply if it is anything with EXECUTIVE/PROFESSIONAL in front of the designation it is not a complete program satisfying academic requirements.
