Applications are invited for the Aptitude Test from candidates who posses at least the minimum requirements for admission to Uva Wellassa University under section  3.2 of the Handbook on Admission to Undergraduate Courses of the Universities in Sri Lanka for the Academic Year 2012/2013  of the University Grants Commission. Those who have applied to  the University Grants Commission for admission to the Uva Wellassa University are required to pass the relevant aptitude test in addition to the other requirements.


This test consists of two papers:
1. General paper to test the analytical, logical and mathematical aptitude.
2. A paper to test the aptitude relevant to the course applied.

The candidates are requested to refer the 8.10.1, 8.10.2, 8.10.3, 8.10.4, 8.10.5, 8.10.6, 8.10.7, 8.10.8, 8.10.9, 8.10.10, 8.10.11 of University Grants Commission students Hand Book on Admission to undergraduate courses of the Universities in Sri Lanka 2012/2013 when they apply for the aptitude test of this University.

A applications for the Aptitude Test should be prepared in A4 size paper on the format given herewith. Your application for the Aptitude Test should reach the Registrar, Uva Wellassa University, Passara Road, Badulla under registered cover on or before 23 July, 2013. Indicate ”Aptitude Test - 2012/2013” on the top left hand corner of the envelope. The application should include the following documents:
i. A bank receipt for depositing Rs. 250/- per course paid to any branch of Bank of Ceylon to the credit of Uva Wellassa University Account No: 3114820, Bank of Ceylon, Badulla Branch (Please keep a photocopy of deposit slip with you). This fee will not be refunded.
ii. A photocopy of results sheets of G.C.E (A/L) 2012.
iii. A photocopy of National Identity card.
Date of the Aptitude Test will be informed in writing to the applicant. It will also be announced through the national newspapers. Aptitude Test will be held only in English Language.
Candidates are advised to NOT to send separate application for each course applied. Please send only one application for all courses applied.
If the paid amount of examination fee is less than the required number of courses, the candidate will be considered only for the courses most preferred by him/ her.

Sri Lanka University Students Protest March

Sri Lanka's Major students Union, Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) “Anthare” has launched huge protest march today to pressurize the government to stop the students suppression and to protect the Free Education. 
It is reported that over 10,000 students have joined with the today Protest March.Students have started their march from Japura University.

The motto was “Join to protect free Education and freedom of Education”. 

There was heavy traffic along the main roads and other roads in Colombo due to this protest.
Meanwhile Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake urged the undergraduates to refrain from participating in protests organized by IUSF. Engaging in such forms of agitations would only result in harsher disciplinary action.Also he said that action will be taken against private buses which provide transport for undergraduates who are due to protest in Colombo.
IUSF Sanjeewa Bandara said that several groups have threatened students saying not to participate for the protest.

‘‘මෙහෙම ප්‍රශ්ණ ඔබටත් ඇති. ඉගෙන ගන්න ආවා නම් ඉගෙන ගන්නේ නැතිව ආණ්ඩු පෙරලන්න හදනවා කියලා අපට බයින අයත් ඒ අතර ඇති. ඒ නිසා අපට මෙහෙම පාරට බහින්න උන හේතුව කියන එක අපේ වගකීමක්. කල්පනා කරන්නඅපට ජීවිතයේ බොහෝ දේවල් දැනටමත් අහිමි වෙලා නේදමේ නිසා සමාජයත් අපේ ජීවිතත් විශාල අනතුරකට ලක් වෙලා. ආශ්චර්යයිසංවර්ධනයයි කියන්නේ මවාපාන මිත්‍යාවන් විතරයි. ජීවන බර අහස උසට. ඒත් වැටුප් හරි ආදායම් හරි වැඩිවෙලා නෑ නේදඅන්තිමේදී ජීවිතේ ඉතිරිවෙලා තියෙන්නේ අපේක්ෂා භංගත්වයයිකළකිරීමයිදැරිය නොහැකි පීඩාවයි විතරයි. ඒ අතරේ දෙමාපියන් විදිහට ඔබට පුංචි හරි බලාපොරොත්තුවක් තිබුනානම් ඒ තමයි ඔබේ දරැවා. ඔවුන්ට හොද අනාගතයක් හදලා දෙන්න හීනයක් ඔබට තියනවා. ඒත් අද ඒකත් හීනයක් විතරයි‘‘ යනුවෙන් එහි සදහන් විය. Images : Vikalpa

Sabaragamuwa university students parents to Meet MR

Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa is scheduled tomorrow to meet parents of Sabaragamuwa University students who were suspended last month.

IUSF Leader Sanjeewa Bandara was issued summons



Convener of the Inter University Students Federation ( IUSF) Sanjeewa Bandara was issued summons and ordered to appear before court on July 9 to inquire into the breaking of his bail conditions.
The Colombo Crimes Division informed the Fort Magistrates Court that Bandara was granted bail on condition that he would not be a member of any unlawful gathering.
The CCD said that his participation in the recent protest march to Nugegoda was a violation of this condition. Extract from Online DailyMirror

Kelaniya University Science Faculty academic activities begin tomorrow

Academic activities at Science Faculty of the Kelaniya University will be recommenced from tomorrow (July 2, Tuesday).The faculty was temporarily closed due to a clash that took place at Seewali Mawatha Hostel on June 7. University registrar requested from students those who are entitled for hostel facilities to report to hostel before 05.00 pm on July 1.

Japura Students Leaders 15 years ban cut down to 2 years

Sri Jayewardenepura University administration has decided to shorten the earlier 15-year ban imposed on student leaders, to two years.
The decision was taken after considering a report filed by a disciplinary committee, which conducted a special inquiry.
Students have been informed the inquiry for the 30 Management and Arts students, who were also banned from attending lectures, will be conducted next week.

The university authorities banned the main student union and some other individual faculty unions, and also cancelled the student membership of 11 more undergraduates. A group of over 1,500 undergraduates of the university staged a peaceful protest march from the university premises to Nugegoda town on Wednesday (26), demanding that issues related to student welfare and the curbing of student rights and the suspension of students be removed.
