The Engineering and National Diploma in Technology (NDT) faculties at the Moratuwa University were temporally closed following a clash between two students groups last night (January 16).
Six students were injured during the clash and two of them were admitted to the Colombo National hospital and the Kalubowila Teaching hospital. One Student's condition is serious.
Those two faculties were temporarily closed on January 2 also due to a clash between the students and after the clash eight students of the Engineering faculty and one National Diploma in Technology (NDT) student were hospitalized.
The Engineering Faculty and Institute of Technology of the Moratuwa University reopened on January 16.According to the sources the dispute was a long standing one as the Engineering students wanted the Institute of Technology moved out of the university.
The university was closed to prevent further clashes, but will be re-opened soon, a university official said.
