Sri Jayewardenepura
University administration has decided to sealed the Students council. Administration
says students’ council has not fulfilled relevant requirements to be a council.
The
office was sealed yesterday stating the necessary conditions have not been
followed to continue with the office by the Students’ Council.
A
member of the academic staff of the university should hold the position of the
treasurer for a students’ council to be legal and the office has been sealed by
the administration stating a member of the staff has not been appointed to the
relevant position of the Students’ Council.
However,
students say the administration has threatened the academic staff not to accept
the post of senior treasurer in the council. As a result every member of the
academic staff that is appointed for the post resigns they point out adding the
issue is an administrative matter and not an issue of the students.
