Godage Literary Award - Best Poetry Ruwan Bandujeewa

Young poet & short story writer Ruwan Bandujeewa won the "Godage Literary Award" for the best Sinhala Poet during 2013. Ruwan won the award for his Sinhala language poem book titled මීළඟ මීවිත “MEELANGA MIVITHA” (THE NEXT VINE).

The award is presented annually by Godage International Publishers  to celebrate creative poem writing and literature in Sri Lanka. 

Each September, Godage Book Publishers announce their selection of the preceding year's most outstanding published books in the Sinhala language.

The award ceremony, held on 4 September 2014, recognized the best Sinhala novel, best short story collection and best poetry collection of 2013.

He won the best poetry for 2013 at Vidyodaya Literary Award 2013. The writer launched his maiden poetry Alcohol Nomathy Sanda (The Moon Sans Alcohol) in 2008. මීළඟ මීවිත “MEELANGA MIVITHA” (THE NEXT VINE) has been short listed for "State Literary Awards Sri Lanka".

පනස් තුන ඉරක් දාහතයි, පහළොව එළවන

නන්දසේනගෙ ගැහෙන වමතින්

වැටුණි දවසේ පළමු ගියරය

ගොර, ගොර හඬත් දීගෙන

ඩිපෝවෙන් එළියට ආ බස් එක

ඇරඹුවා කඳු ශිඛර තරණය

දකුණු පස කණ්නාඩි පලුවෙන්

පාර විමසූ වරක් ගානේ

පෙරෙයිදා තුන් මාසෙ දන දුන්

බිරිඳ පමණයි ඔහුට පෙනුණේ

"තාත්තාගේ බස් එක"

කඩදාසියක ඇඳ, ඇඳ

ඉදිරිපස කණ්නාඩි පතුලෙන්

පුංචි පුතුමයි නිතර එබුණේ

නලා හඬ රැව් දී නැගෙද්දිත්

වරින් වර බෙල් එක වදිද්දිත්

ඒ කිසිත් නොව නන්දසේනට

බිරිඳගේ හඬ පමණි ඇසුණේ

"ඉස්සරහ වංගුවක කන්දේ

පස් කඩන් වැටිලාලු නන්දේ

ළඟට ආවම මං කියන්නම්

ඔයා එළවන් යන්න නන්දේ

රෑට මොනවද කෑවෙ නන්දේ

පුතා මොනවද ඊයෙ ඇන්දේ

කොණ්ඩෙ තනියෙන් ගොතා ගන්නට

දූට දැන් පුළුවන්ද නන්දේ

කඳුළු පිරි කඳු වළලු මැද්දේ

අර පෙනෙන බෑවුමේ ලන්දේ

සිනාසෙන්නට තවම පුළුවන්

එක තැනක් තියෙනවා නන්දේ

ඇහෙනවද ඒ සිනා සද්දේ............!
