All Universities Closed - Sri Lanka

All the state Universities and campuses in Sri Lanka closed temporaraly due to ongoing University Teachers Strike. Higher Education Ministry said the Medical faculties will not closed.Opening dates will be noticed in the future.
Higher Education Minister S B Dissanayake said that 21 universities and educational institutes, except the Faculties of Medicine will remain closed until further notice. He suspected political agendas behind the trade union action by university teachers to create a political crisis leading to regime change.
The strike launched by the Federation of University Teachers' Associations (FUTA) on July 04, entered the seventh week without a solution in sight. Due to this long strike academic activities are paralyzed and Ministry has decided to shut down all the universities.
University lecturers in Sri Lanka who are currently engaged in a strike to win their demands including a salary increase are continuing with the trade union action
