FUTA has started their protest march today
morning from Galle Fort and now reaching to Hickckaduwa town. Ambalangoda town
is their destination today.
Sri Lankan University Teachers Union(FUTA) has planned to
hold huge five day protest march from Galle to Colombo for pressurize the
government to allocate 6% GDP for the education sector and solve the University
lecturers problems.
The five day March parade is scheduled to start tomorrow
(24 September) from Galle Fort and will reach the Colombo on 28 September.
After reaching Colombo a huge rally will be held in Colombo
Hyde Park and September 28 has been declared as a protest day.
About 26 trade unions, political parties and civil society
organizations have also expressed support with the FUTA and will participate in
the marches.
The motto is “6% GDP for Education-Save State Education”.
The March parade will pass Hickkaduwa,Ambalangoda,Aluthgama,Kalutara and
Moratuwa towns along the A2 Road.
