Yesterday, a tense
situation was prevailed in the Ruhuna University when some residents supporting
the ‘Deyata Kirula Exhibition’ forcibly entered the university.
Several residents had gathered opposite the university along the Matara- Kataragama main road and shouted out slogans in support of the Deyata Kirula. Some of them had forcibly entered the university and one student was injured in a clash.

Ruhuna University students held a
protest on last week against the government’s division to hold the next Deyata
Kirula within the university premises.
Meanwhile last week Deyata Kirula Exhibition Committee Chairman Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said next Deyata Kirula National Exhibition will not be held at the Ruhuna University premises.
