Sri Lanka to Nationalize SAITM Malabe Medical College

South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) – Malabe Medical CollegeGovernments Doctors’ Association GMOA says President is considering nationalizing the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) – Malabe Medical College in future.
GMOA Met president Maitripala Sirisena yesterday (July 11).

  1. This is actually a good idea, nationalizing SAITM Malabe Medical College will give opportunity to other students around the world and from research paper writer to study in your University.

  2. This is ridiculous... We have private institutions to award degrees in engineering, law, sciences, arts, and etc in the country... But they think allowing private medical degrees being awarded to sri lankans kind of a taboo. If one is to oppose private education (at a cost), then they should oppose wholly not selectively. The docs must also stop private practice if they are employed in government hospitals. The whole social system is crooked and shameless. On the other, if the government nationalizes the saitm, would all the conditions (as the gmo docs point out) change at once so that the same institution is now suitable for medical studies? whatever decision is to be taken, it must be taken based on logical reasoning and principles... from the janitor to the chief justice of the supreme court, all must be considered as same... what superiority should we give to doctors who are just another section of the society???
