Higher Education Ministry Sources says that the students who are qualified for the 2016 University Academic year based on 2015 A/L results will be admitted to universities from December.
Some Degree courses will starts February 2017.
Chairman of the Sri Lanka University Grants Commission UGC
Professor Mohan Silva says the list of names of the students who will be
enrolled to universities except for medical and engineering faculties for the
academic year of 2015/2016 will be sent to respective universities from December
1st.
Name lists of students who will be enrolled for Medical and Engineering
faculties have already been sent and those courses have commenced as well.
The courses of the engineering faculty of the University
of Sri Jayewardenapura will commence within the next few days. Rest of the
courses will begin December or in January 2017.
This year the UGC had received 2281 Appeals from
students. The period granted for students to register to fill the vacancies of
the 1st round concluded. Filling of vacancies in the 2nd round is now being
carried out. The Chairman said the commencement dates of various courses will
be informed by the respective university.
26,511 students will be enrolled for this academic year. It
is an increase of 2208 students in comparison to last year. Two new subject
streams have been introduced this year.
