GCE Advanced Level Examination(A/L 2014) will start on next Tuesday August 5th and it will be held until the 29th of this month except on Fridays.
The
examinations will be held from 8.30 am till 11.30 am and in the afternoon from
12.30 pm to 3.30 pm. On Fridays it will
be held only from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm.
The Examinations will be
held at 2120 centres and a staff of 22,000 will assist in holding these
examinations. In addition to this 295
coordinating centres will be established and these centres will be in operation
round the clock. 296,313 candidates will
sit for the examination this year and admission cards have been made available
to all of them.
It is compulsory to take
the admission cards and the ID cards to sit for the Examination. It is also compulsory to the candidates to
get their signature certified.
Information about the
Examination can be obtained by telephoning numbers 0112 784 208 or 0112 784 537
or to the emergency number 1119. It is
prohibited to hold meetings or conducting political activities using loud speakers
near the Examination centres.
The supervisors of the
Examination and invigilators have been enlightened to seek police assistance if
such activities are being carried out.
This was stated by the Commissioner General of Examination Jayantha
Pushpakumara participating in the Subharathee Discussion programme of the SLBC
this morning.
Stern legal action will be
taken against those who found cheating in the Examination. Taking of mobile phones to the Examination
halls is completely prohibited.
Impersonators will be taken into Police custody and stern action will be
taken against them. The Commissioner of
Examination also stated that evaluation of the answer scripts will start on the
30th of August and it will be held under 4 stages. The schools used for evaluation will be
closed during that period.
