About 20 injured due to clash that erupted between two groups
of the Ananda and Nalanda Colleges in Colombo during their Battle of the Maroon's Big match at the SSC
ground today(03 March).It is reported that about one thousand old boys of the both school clashed with each other.
Police used tear gas to control a clash and arrested 4 and
later spectators started to disperse peacefully. Meanwhile it is reported that several photo
journalists came to cover the clash have been assaulted by parents and old boys.
Sri Lankan Police Headquarters announced that legal action will be taken against students and other groups who behave indecently during the ongoing big match season.
Police Spokesman SSP P.M. H. B. Siriwardena issuing a statement on Saturday said special teams have been deployed in Colombo and other major cities to look into violations of traffic laws and harassment of school students by the big-match aficionados.

The argument had prolonged for a long period of time had ended in a clash.

Anandians are so unsporty they can never accept defeat. If you want to watch a decent gentlemen's match go to St. Joseph's and St Peter's big match.

ReplyDeleteThis is 1st time in History. Can never foget. but Ananda - Nalanda are the best Budhist Schools in Sri Lanka. If someone pointing these 2 schools by refering this incident, it's a big jok.
