There is a delay in the releasing the 2011 GCE Advanced Level Examination University Entrance Z score cut off marks due to legal procedures.
The cut off marks would be released after those issues were solved.The case would be hear on February 6. Parents and students complained that the cut-off marks had still not been released and they had not yet been informed of another date.University Leadership Training program third batch selected students details are no yet released to the web but the Higher Education Ministry has scheduled to commence it on February 12.
Meanwhile Colombo University Vice Chancellor, Professor Kshanika Hirimburegama, assumed duties as the new Chairman for the University Grants Commission (UGC) from February 1st and LankaUniversity-News hopes she will be involved in this issue immediately and take necessary steps to release the Cut off Marks soon.

2011 GCE Advanced Level (A/L) examination Z-score cut-off marks are to be released January 31st at Higher Education Ministry Board room with the presence of Minister S B Dissanayake, according to the reliable sources.
Minister S B Dissanayake will officially release the cut off marks at a Special Meeting on 31st January and later cut off marks will be available University Grants Commission (UGC) web site. http://www.ugc.ac.lk/ .
Once the cut-off marks are released, students are expected to be admitted to their respective university courses.

The delay in releasing the
2011 A/Level Z-score cut-off marks stemmed from the controversy surrounding the
exam’s results, which prompted a revising of the original Z-score marks issued
to candidates.
Students who qualify to
enter university based on the marks will be admitted by March 2013.

I'm waiting for the cut off for second attempt. I think i'm in the border line for engineering in both results. If i miss the engineering for the 2nd attempt , idon't know what to do next. Wil they make us know how are they going to select students for this latest results before our university admission......? I'm clueless.........

ReplyDeletewell hmmm the issue was this.. there was a practical test for aesthetic degrees (dancing and music) but in some districts students haven't pass this exam... :( so there is a problem of getting those students nah.. so UGC had two options.. 1st one was to terminate those vacancies.. 2nd was to fill those vacancies from the students of other districts who have pass the exam.. the court has accepted the second option and ordered the ugc to fill the excess 5609 vacancies without reducing them..

That means if u want to do that course u have to sit that exam other vice u can't do that course.Have u did the exam Zara? Most of exams finished.

ReplyDeleteThe same thing has happened for me too. Although my z-score is sufficient enough for me to get the admission, I don't have any chance to enter if they are selecting under the concern of these aptitude tests. I don't know where to complain about this either.
ReplyDeleteWe need a fair solution for this. This is really unfair for we never knew about this aptitude tests and all. They should have informed us regarding this, otherwise how can we possibly know about these things?
Me too Karthika. None of my family or relatives have any knowledge about this and I am the first person to enter University, but now all my dreams and hopes are shattered. My extended family have a complete hope on me. They assure me that I would get. All the people around my home are coming and congratulating me and I am in an awkward moment not knowing what to say. Now I am depressed and have become voiceless. I pray to God that this should not happen to anyone hereafter.

My situation too bad friend. My father is in abroad so we applied for the visa still we haven't got that bt we expect that in 2012. so i didn't sit 2012 exam. nw i don't know wt to do? This was a big issue. Those who have problems write to UGC and Higher Education Ministry. They will do some favors. Don’t lose your hopes.
Shall we want to write nw or after the 2nd form? i ordered the courses E1,E2,QS,CS after that IT(moratuwa Campus) is this a issue? One of my friend told me u need to put IT first.Then only they will send letter.
