The university
students started the fast to urge university authorities to withdraw their
decision to expel five undergraduates.
Hospital sources said
the students who were engaged in the hunger strike are in deteriorating health
condition.
Meanwhile, a group of
undergraduates of the Sabaragamuwa University carried out a protest campaign on
the Colombo - Badulla road, obstructing traffic this morning. They were
protesting to express their support to the students who underwent a hunger
strike.
The Police used tear
gas to disperse the students who were blocking the main Colombo Badulla Road.
